Team India won the Adelaide test by 31-runs and also took a 1-0 lead in the 4-match Test series.
Thanks to these 2 reasons, why India created history in Adelaide. Apart from this India have also repeated this old record of Pakistan. 1. Pujara came in between Australia's victory: Pujara made the biggest difference between India and Australia in the Adelaide Test. The kind of batting India needed in both innings was completely fulfilled by him. In the first innings, where India needed to bat with restraint, Pujara did exactly the same by playing 246 balls and scored 123 runs.
In the second innings, Pujara faced 204 balls and scored 71 runs. Pujara was also adjudged Man of the Match for his excellent batting in both innings of Adelaide. It was Pujara's first Man of the Match award outside Asia.
2. Indian bowlers discipline bowling: The second big factor in India's victory over Australia in Adelaide is bowling of Indian bowlers. India's fast bowlers maintained their good line and length at an average speed of 141.4 kilometres per hour. On the other hand, Australia's fast bowlers only delivered 37% of their balls on the good line & length.
This is the most disciplined performance of Indian fast bowlers in the SENA country since 2006. In addition to the disciplined bowling of fast bowlers, Ashwin's spin proved to be an X-Factor for India, he took 6 wickets in the match. Repeated this 39-years-old record of Pakistan: India defeated Australia for the first time, in case of winning the first match of the test series in Australian soil in 71 years of test series between the two nations.
With this, India becomes the second Asian team after Pakistan to do this. Pakistan beat Australia in the first match of the Test Series in Melbourne in 1979.
