The first match of the series was played between India and Australia in Sydney Cricket Ground, in spite of Rohit's century, Team India lost the match by 34 runs.
Australian fast bowler Richardson's fatal bowling helped Australia to reduce India for 254 runs in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma 133 off 129 balls and completed his 22nd ODI century for India. If India hasn't made these 4 big mistakes in the first ODI, then India surely would have the match.

4. No extra pressure applied on Australian batsmen after two quick wickets:

The Indian team had put pressure on the Australian team from the very beginning, as they dismissed both openers for 41 runs, Aussies were completely pushed back. But, Team India did not put pressure on the middle-order batsmen and Australia took the game away.

3. 93 Runs in the last 10 overs:

Team India bowlers could not stop the Australian batsmen in the last 10 overs. Peter Handscomb and Marcus Harris scored 93 runs in the last 10 overs and posted a challenging total.

2. Top order flopped very badly:

The 2nd biggest reason for India's defeat is that India's leading batsmen Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu could not play big innings. On the total of 4 runs, these three batsmen had returned to the pavilion.

1. No partnership after Rohit-Dhoni:

India's wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni and Rohit Sharma played a 137-run partnership after losing 3 wickets for 4 runs, Unfortunately, Dhoni was out for 51 runs. After Dhoni's dismissal, Rohit Sharma was making a consistent score from one side and on the other hand, the wickets were falling.
