IND vs AUS: How will the victory or defeat in ODI series affect India in ODI rankings?

Following the historic victory in the 4-match test series against the Kangaroo team. The Indian players will be on seventy skies, however, Virat and Co will be looking to repeat the same history in the ODI series which is scheduled to begin from 12 January.
It's worth mentioning that, the Indian team has never won a single bilateral series against Australia in their own backyard. In such a situation, India has the golden opportunity to create history once again. The first match of the 3-match ODI series will be played in SCG on Saturday 12 January, the 2nd match will be played on January 15, in Adelaide and the 3rd and final match will be played in Melbourne on 18 January.

All the possible scenarios if the Indian team wins the series in ICC ODI Rankings:

Team India is currently ranked second with 121 points in the ICC ODI Rankings, behind England by just 5 points. If India wins the series by 3-0, then India will be benefited by one point and will remain on the second place with 122 points. Apart from this, if Team India wins the series by 2-1, then India will lose one point. On the other hand, if Australia wins the series by 2-1, then India will lose two points and they will have 119 points. If Australia manages to win the series by 3-0 then Team India will lose four points (117 points) but still they will remain in second place on the ICC ODI rankings. This means that Team India may not have any effect on winning the series or losing in the ICC ODI Rankings.
