The 4th and final match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy between India & Australia will be played from Thursday in Sydney Cricket Ground. If India wins the 4th and final match in Sydney, then India will win the series in Australia for the first time.
India has played 11 Test series in Australian soil, and have lost 8 series and 3 test series finished on draws.

India can break the 40-years-ago record in Sydney:

If we look at the record of India in Sydney, then India's performance on the field has been disappointing. India has played 11 Test matches at this ground, in which India has won only one match. While 5 matches ended in drawn and has been defeated in the 5 tests.
India had won only one match on the field in 1978 with the innings and 2 runs under the captaincy of Bedi. In Sydney, India had played their last match under Virat in 2015, which ended on the draw. Seeing Australia's performance in the present time, Team India could the 40 years old record.

Winning the series for the first time in 71 years:

For the first in 1947, India toured Australia for the test series. Since then, the Indian team has played 11 Tests series in Australia and has not been able to win any series so far. Australia has won 8 series on their home grounds. While 3 series ended on the draw. If Australia's team did not win in Sydney, then for the first time in 71 years, India will win the series on the Australian soil.
